HMI/SCADA/Prozessvisualisierung WEBfactory MWM GmbH

Since October, MWM GmbH has been a leading global provider of highly efficient and environmentally friendly power plant systems and the new WEBfactory 2010 Premium WEBXpert. The web-based plant visualisation tool, MWM-SCADA, based on WEBfactory 2010 everywhere includes representation of fully dynamic pipelines (and tools), flow charts and single-line diagrams as well as displays of engine and plant data. Visualisations can be called up by any PC via the customer network or the internet.

MWM, which is based in Mannheim, can draw on more than 135 years of experience in the development and optimisation of combustion engines for natural gas, special gases and diesel. Its understanding of the added-value chain, its mechanical engineering expertise and its innovative ideas have made the company a reliable partner, which develops and manufactures solutions for its customers that are tailored to individual requirements.

With more than 1,100 employees in 11 subsidiary companies worldwide, the company has focussed on ecologically advanced solutions for the production of “clean energy”. For this purpose, the most modern, high-performance products, services and technologies are being developed in the field of decentralised energy supply using gas and diesel engines.
MWM is active in four market sectors: In the co-generation sector, natural gas is used for energy production. MWM can serve individual areas of application to best advantage with its gas engine systems. The rapidly growing special gas sector includes biogases as well as flammable gas emitted by industrial, raw material extraction and mining activities. The greenhouse sector covers systems to supply energy to greenhouses and to heat them as well as the simultaneous fertilisation of plants with purified waste. Diesel aggregates continue to complement the gas engine systems.

We offer worldwide customer service for the installation, servicing and maintenance of systems. In addition, MWM provides training in its own training centre.

MWM can look back on a more than135-year-old tradition which has always been accompanied by innovation. In 1871, the car inventor, Carl Benz set the framework with the foundation of his Mechanical Workshop in Mannheim and approximately 50 years later in 1922, the company was divided up. The Motoren-Werke Mannheim AG formerly  the Benz, Department of Stationary Motor Construction was created. In 1985, Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG took over MWM and as DEUTZ AG, created the independent subsidiary, Deutz Power Systems in 2005. The latter was sold in the autumn of  2007 to the financial investor, 3i.  Since October, 2008, the company has been doing business under the name of  MWM again.

MWM-SCADA

MWM-SCADA serves to control plants using a web-based system. This includes the presentation of engine and plant data via a standard internet browser. Thus, power units can be controlled from any PC without additional software via the customer network or via an internet connection.

The following features are available:

  • Dynamic single-line diagrams
  • Engine and plant control with start requests and power demand
  • Complete representation of the engine and plant data
  • Dynamic piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) in real time
  • Operation diary to record messages, warnings and faults
  • History for the analysis of the engine and plant data
  • Integrated alarm line presenting the most recent message, warning or fault
  • User administration to grant access rights

MWM-SCADA will be pre-configured and supplied on an industrial PC (IPC). A 1-Gbit network connection is provided to the customer. All of the values and status information shown will be collected in real time from the MWM switching system and the TEM and stored in a database.
